Mary T. Marshall

Mary T. Marshall, 97, formerly of Fox Road, Oneida and currently, a seven month resident of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing, in Rome, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Oneida, on May 19, 1926, Mary was the daughter of Richard and Flora Haenlin Anthony. A lifelong resident of the area, Mary was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1944. She married Thomas R. Marshall in St. Joseph’s Church on May 10, 1947. Mr. Marshall died on June 27, 2008. Prior to her retirement in 1987, Mary was employed with the Oneida City School District, at both North Broad and Oneida Castle Elementary Schools, where she was a teacher’s aide and lunch monitor.

She had a great love for gardening of both flowers and vegetables. Mary enjoyed sewing and when her children were young, she was a salesperson for Dutch Maid clothing.

Mary was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, where she had formerly been involved with their Altar-rosary Society and the Senior’s Group.

The family wishes to send a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at The Grand, in Rome, for their love and compassion shown to Mary and her family while she was a resident there.

Surviving are daughters, Christine Reed, of Northeast, MD, Kathleen and Ned Winchell, of Verona, Teresa and Steve Araki, of Oneida and Patricia and Norris Whitmore, of Lee Center; sons, Robert and Mary Marshall, of Verona, Kenneth and Karen Marshall, of Fair Oaks, CA and Daniel and Amy Marshall, of Oneida; thirteen grandchildren, Cassy, Missy, CJ, Kenzie, Bob, Brian, Mike, Kelly, Justin, Corrine, Tim, Desi and Chelsea; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five sisters, Elizabeth (in infancy), Sister Richard Ann, Nancy Hill, Florence O’brien, Ellen Florada and Margaret Gourley; two brothers, Donald Anthony and Richard Anthony.

Funeral services, which are under the care of the Campbell-dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, will be held in the spring of 2024. Details regarding the date and time for services, will be announced in the spring.
