FlixBus expands CNS service to Utica
BY JOLENE CLEAVER Staff writer
UTICA — There’s a new ride coming to Utica.
Beginning on Friday, Dec. 10, FlixBus will be extending its New York City-Schenectady line to Utica, to provide daily roundtrip service from Utica to the Capital District to the Big Apple with tickets starting as low as $24.99, according to FlixBus USA spokesman, Sean Hanft.
The new Utica stop will be outside the State Office Building at 207 Genesee St.
Hanft explains that the move into the Utica market came after debuting a new, round-trip Albany-New York City route in early November, with success.
“We work with local charter companies and operators and their primary portfolio is charter for private groups. In some of our European markets, we have functionality for charter to be booked directly on our website. While this feature has not yet launched in the US, we do have strong relationships with all our operators and happy to facilitate introductions to private groups in need of charter services,” Hanft added.
FlixBus USA’s primary competitors are companies like MegaBus, Trailways, Peter Pan and a mix of national and local bus companies.
“We are hoping to run a daily schedule in the future, but for the time being, we’ll be running our Utica routes on Monday, Friday and Sunday,” Hanft noted.
“We are excited that FlixBus is expanding its services to Utica and welcome them into our community,” said Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri in a statement, “This expansion will provide more transportation options for our residents, as well as give non-residents opportunities to explore and access the great amenities Utica has to offer.”
