Arena headlines latest Copper City Comedy show

By Mike Jaquays STAFF WRITER

Local host comedian Becky Wiggins presents headliner Cindy Arena at the latest Copper City Comedy event at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Rome Polish Home, 415 South George St.

The show also includes stand-up routines from featured comedian Phil Farda and opener Rob Fish, both from Utica, and guest comedian Brandon Ciotti of Rome. Wiggins will perform her own comedy act, warming up the audience “to excite them” for the evening of comedy.

She said she created the Copper City Comedy events as a new venue in the city for comedians and comedy show fans alike.

“I started these because nobody was doing shows like this in our area,” Wiggins, a Rome native herself, said.

Arena is from Rochester and is an award-winning stand-up comedian, actor and radio personality. She won first place at Rochester’s Funniest Person at her home club, Comedy at the Carlson. Arena was also nominated for a ROC award for Best Female Comic and has appeared on HBO’s Game Theory, and filmed two pilots for Amazon Prime.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and maybe also a food truck, Wiggins said. The Polish Home bar will be open during the event as well, she added.

The show is sponsored by HC Glamour. Tickets are $15 and on sale at the Rome Polish Home, Hats Off Hair Salon, 6369 Stokes-Westernville Road in Lee Center and at eventbrite.com.

This is Wiggins’ fourth Copper City Comedy show; the first was a spring show in April at the Polish Home that sold out. She now hopes to continue with at least one show each season.

“I thank everybody who buys a ticket because they are the ones who make this successful,” Wiggins said.

Wiggins said she is always looking for new locations for shows. For more information, find Copper City Comedy on Facebook.
