RFA’s Denton ties for 20th at girls golf state championships

Rome Free Academy’s Evie Denton tied for 20th at the girls golf state championships this past weekend at the Edison Club in Rexford. She also made the all-state team at the tournament.

Kennedy Swedick of Albany Academy for Girls won the tournament with a two-day score of 139, five-under par and seven strokes ahead of second-place finisher Emma Lee of Scarsdale.

Denton was in a four-way tie for 20th with a score of 164. She had the best finish among Section III golfers.

Kamryn Yerman of Sauquoit Valley was tied for 33rd (173). Her teammate, Alaina Weaver, was tied for 49th (183).

Ellie Secor of Remsen was tied for 70th (194). Camden’s Lainie Liberatore was 89th (213).
