Herkimer College graduates fifth class in Police Basic Training program

Herkimer College graduated its fifth class from the Phase I Pre-Employment Police Basic Training course at a June 1 ceremony. The course is offered in partnership with the Little Falls Police Department.

Members of the 2023 graduating class are: Thomas Bronson of Remsen; Savka Browneski of Whitesboro; Jonathan Dupras of Cambridge; Michael Hagan of Jordanville; Joshua Muzzi of Johnstown; Hunter Stevens of Little Falls; and James Waters of Troy.

Most of the seven cadets have already been hired by law enforcement agencies including the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Little Falls Police Department, the Hoosick Falls Police Department and the Waterford Police Department, where they will complete the remainder of their training.

According to former Little Falls Police Chief and Program Director Michael Masi, this training not only provides students with a strong foundation in law enforcement but also pride in their accomplishments.

“Successful graduates of this course have truly achieved something worthy of being proud of,” said Masi. “They have proved they are ready and competent to enter a career in one of the most noble professions.”

Herkimer College’s Pre-Employment Police Academy launched in the fall of 2018. Coursework covers topics such as criminal investigations, community relations, emergency preparedness, defensive tactics and more.
