Loaded gun, cocaine found in Madison County traffic stop

A Utica man wanted for assault in Texas was taken into custody on the New York State Thruway in Madison County on Friday, accused of possessing a loaded handgun and a felony amount of cocaine in his vehicle, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers said Hadren L. Williams, 40, of Utica, was pulled over on the Thruway while passing through the Town of Sullivan around 10:26 p.m. on June 2. Troopers said Williams was unlicensed and wanted on an active warrant out of Harris County in Texas for felony assault.

Once stopped, troopers said they searched Williams’s vehicle and found a loaded, semi-automatic, 9mm handgun and 8.85 grams of cocaine.

Williams is charged with second-degree possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance, both class C felonies, troopers said. He is scheduled to appear in court, and he is awaiting extradition to Texas.
