New religious support group to host Thursday meetings

A new religious support group for people in need will begin holding meetings on Thursday at the New Testament Church on Lamphear Road in Rome, according to group founder Scott Crouse.

Entitled “Celebrate Recovery,” the group is for anyone in need of healing from “habits, hurts and hang-ups,” Crouse said. They will help with such issues as eating disorders, drug addiction, domestic violence, alcoholism and more, Crouse stated.

Meetings will be held weekly from 6 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday, with the first meeting on June 8.

The meetings will be free and open to anyone who wants to attend, Crouse stated. They will be held at New Testament Church at 6772 Lamphear Road.

Crouse is a minister at the New Testament Church, but the church is not involved in the support group. He said he will run the group with his wife. Crouse said there will be religious teachings, music and group discussion at the meetings, with an emphasis on confidentiality.

He said this is a “Christ-centered recovery program.”

Anyone with questions can call Crouse at 315-335-3729.
