Scam prevention program aims to help seniors
BY CASEY PRITCHARD Staff writer
Seniors in the area worried about falling victim to a scam are invited to the Oneida Public Library, 459 Main St., for a presentation by the Oneida Police Department.
The presentation “Scam Prevention for Seniors” kicks off on Friday, June 16 at 11:30 a.m.
“We are excited to host a scam prevention program for seniors along with the Oneida Police Department,” Librarian Ariel Bero said. “Scammers are getting clever and we need to be smarter to save ourselves and our loved ones a lot of money and time in the future.”
OPD Officer Michael Gough will discuss the types of scams that are happening not just across the nation, but also in the greater Oneida area.
Gough will help seniors understand what these scammers are after and what to do if they encounter a scam.
“This could really help a lot of people and we are thrilled that our police department offers these types of programs,” Bero added.
