Madison County announces early voting times for Republican primaries

There will be a Republican primary on Tuesday, June 27 in the town of Smithfield for town supervisor, town of Stockbridge for town council, and the town of Sullivan for town supervisor, town clerk, and town council.

Residents who wish to vote in the primary election must be registered by June 17 and be a member of the party having a primary. In New York, a registered voter remaining within the state cannot change their party affiliation at this time to vote in the primaries. Voters can verify their registration and enrollment at voterlookup.elections.state. ny.us/votersearch.aspx

Anyone who has moved since they last registered must reregister. Registration forms are available from the Madison County Board of Elections by calling 315-366-2231 or downloaded at www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/boe or you can register online at dmv. ny.gov/mydmv.

Forms are also available at post offices and town, city and village clerk offices.

Early voting for the primary elections will be available at Sullivan Veteran’s Memorial & Recreation Building at 707 Mohawk St. in Chittenango.

Voters will cast their ballots on the same voting system used on Election Day.

Madison County registered voters may cast their ballot during the following early voting days:

• Saturday, June 17 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Sunday, June 18 — 9 a.m. to

5 p.m.

• Monday, June 19 — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Tuesday, June 20 — Noon to 8 p.m.

• Wednesday, June 21 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Thursday, June 22 — Noon to 8 p.m.

• Friday, June 23 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Saturday, June 24 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Sunday, June 25 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Those who wish to vote by absentee, application forms are available from the Madison County Board of Elections by calling 315-366-2231 or downloading them from the Board of Elections website.

You may also come into the Board of Elections office at 138 N. Court St., Building #4, to fill out an absentee form and vote.

Please note that, per new changes in election law, if you have been issued an absentee ballot, you are no longer eligible to vote on the machine during early voting or on primary election day.
