New Hartford’s unbeaten soccer record ties fourth-best mark

The 3-0 win by the New Hartford girls soccer team at West Genesee Tuesday pushed the program’s unbeaten streak to 47 games, tying the fourth longest such streak in New York state girls soccer, according to the New York State Public High School Athletic Assocation.

The teams were scoreless after halftime. In the second half, Anna Rayhill scored and assisted on the other two goals. Willa Pratt and Erin Cahill also scored. Alex Volo also had an assist.

Savannah Cole stopped all five shots on goal for the shutout.

The Spartans are now 9-0-1 overall and 7-0 in the Tri-Valley League. The team plays at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 6 p.m. today in the TVL.

RFA girls soccer earns overtime win

The Rome Free Academy girls soccer team overcame heavy rain for a 5-4 win in overtime over Clinton Tuesday in a nonleague match.

RFA took the lead to 4-3 with a penalty kick goal then Clinton scored to tie it up. In overtime, RFA scored a quick goal to win the game.

Brooke Frawley and Brynn Furbeck had two goals each for the Black Knights. Amelia Furbeck also scored.

Miranda McCormick made a dozen saves for RFA.

Ava Alteri scored twice for Clinton. Lydia DeTraglia and Paige Luke each scored and had an assist. Chelsea Lopata also collected an assist.

Deanna Heintz made 23 saves for the Warriors.

RFA hosts Central Valley Academy at 4:15 p.m. today in the TVL.

Clinton plays at Utica Academy of Science at 4:30 p.m. today in the Center State Conference.

Carter’s two goals help VVS to soccer win

Julia Carter scored two goals in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls soccer team’s 3-1 win at home over Holland Patent in the TVL Tuesday.

Sofia Sherwood also scored for the Red Devils. Laiken Kiser had an assist.

Emma Dam stopped five shots in goal for VVS.

HP’s Makenzie Stalker scored on an assist from Brianna Mullins.

Isabella Hobin made 13 saves for HP in goal.

VVS hosts New Hartford at 6 p.m. today in the TVL.

HP visits Whitesboro at 6 p.m. today in the league.

Kelly scores four in Frankfort-Schuyler win

Madison Kelly scored four times in Frankfort-Schuyler’s 6-1 win at home against Adirondack in girls soccer Tuesday in nonleague play.

Ava Wercznski scored and had an assist in the win. Demi Scialdo also scored. Ajla Ikeljic had an assist.

Statistics for Adirondack were not submitted.

Frankfort plays at 4 p.m. Friday at Dolgeville in the Center State.

Adirondack hosts Canastota at 7 tonight in the Center State.

Warriors shut out Oneida then Sauquoit

The Clinton field hockey team shut out Oneida 4-0 Tuesday at home then won 5-0 at Sauquoit Valley Wednesday. Both were non-league games.

On Tuesday, Gretchen Grimm scored twice. Gracen Grimm had a goal and an assist. Elise Pape also scored. Gabriella Gemelli had assists and Lauren Ray earned one as well.

Chloe White made one save in goal for Clinton.

Oneida’s Bethany Honness had 14 saves.

Wednesday, Gracen Grimm got a hat trick and Gretchen Grimm scored once, as did Pape. Rey had four assists and Skyler McFadden had one.

White made five saves. Aubrey Bradbury made six saves and Emily Forbes made nine in split time.

Oneida hosts Holland Patent at 4:15 p.m. Friday in the Tri-Valley League.

Clinton, 9-1, hosts Cato-Meridian in a non-league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Sauquoit hosts Herkimer at 7 p.m. Friday in the Center State.

RFA’s Townsend wins girls cross country race

RFA cross country runner Marlo Townsend won the girls race against Proctor and Whitesboro at Deerfield Town Park Tuesday. The RFA boys team put four runners in the top six spots in its race.

Townsend won in 19:58. Her teammates’ finishes were: Julissa Luciano in third, Shannen Calandra in sixth, Gianna Badolato in ninth, Sofia Melone in 12th, Shavaia Parry in 16th and Fiona Carey in 19th.

RFA beat Whitesboro 26 to 29 and Proctor 20 to 41.

The RFA boys beat Whitesboro 23 to 32 and deated Proctor 20 to 41. Whitesboro beat Proctor 20 to 43.

Owen Sweet of Proctor won the race in 19:05.

For RFA, Carson Campbell took second, Ethan Baker was fourth, Grady Engelbert was fifth, Karl vanHoesel was sixth, Nicholas Toth-Ratazzi was 12th, Luke Pelton was 13th and Jonathyn Langone was 19th.

Grabowski breask her own record again

West Canada Valley diver Analyce Grabowski broke her own school record when the team hosted Whitesboro Tuesday.

Whitesboro won 60 to 37 but Grabowski — a sophomore — scored a 204.75 in the diving event.

It was not the only record to fall at the meet. Reina Loiacano, a junior from Whitesboro, beat the West Canada pool record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:29:78.

Westmoreland modified soccer wins

The Westmoreland girls modified soccer team won 5-0 over Oriskany Tuesday at home, with Isabella Smith scoring twice.

Autumn Coffin, Ella Whameling and Kylie Young each scored once. Charlotte Acee collected a pair of assists.

Holy Bulischeck earned the shutout in goal.
