Voices of Independence concert at Hamilton College Oct. 9

Hamilton College Performing Arts continues its fall performing arts series Symphoria on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

The program, called Voices of Independence, will feature Lawrence Loh conducting and includes Suffragette Dame Ethel Smyth’s “On the Cliffs of Cornwall,” the prelude to Act II of Smyth’s opera, The Wreckers. Symphoria musicians Eduardo Sepúlveda, Rachel Koeth, Peter Rovit, and Heidi Hoffman will take center stage in Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante. Finally, Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 promises to take the audience on a boundless journey.

Lawrence Loh is music director of Symphoria. Loh was assistant, associate and resident conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra from 2005-15, and he returns there annually to lead a wide variety of programs.
