Candidates in 5th Judicial District receive Conservative endorsement

Four candidates for State Supreme Court in the 5th Judicial District have received the endorsement of the New York State Conservative party, according to an announcement by H. Leonard Schick, the party’s regional vice chair.

Schick said the endorsed candidates, whose names will appear in the following order on the Conservative ballot line, are: • Kevin Kuehner, of Onondaga

County;

• Julie Grow Denton, of Oneida County;

• Little Falls City Court Judge Mark Rose, of Herkimer County; and

• Clayton Town Justice Will Ramseier, of Jefferson County.

“Voters within Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego Counties will determine our next group of state Supreme Court Justices,” said Schick. “With recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions holding that key issues should be decided at the state level, electing quality candidates to serve on the bench for the next 14 years is ever more important.”

Schick said the four candidates were endorsed at a Judicial Convention, following a “thorough vetting process.”

“In addition to having excellent track records and bringing a wealth of experience, Mr. Kuehner, Ms. Grow Denton, Judge Rose and Judge Ramseier all presented as candidates who understand that the role of the judiciary is to apply the law as written to facts as they are presented,” Schick said. “They know the role of a judge is to interpret the law and not to legislate from the bench.”

The upcoming general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
