Corrections officer civil service application deadline Oct. 21, sheriff’s office announces

The application deadline for the next Oneida County corrections officer civil service test is Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to an announcement Tuesday by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

The civil service exam is scheduled to be held on Saturday, Dec. 10. Applications for the test may be turned in now through Oct. 21, according to the announcement.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is looking for correctional officers to serve at the Oneida County Jail on Judd Road in Whitestown.

Applicants must be a legal resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego or Otsego counties.

Candidates must also possess either a high school diploma or the equivalent, as well as a valid New York State driver’s license. Applicants also must be at least 18-years-old at the time of the appointment. The starting salary for corrections officer is $44,030, with an increase to $48,922 upon successful completion of basic corrections training or after successfully completing six months of employment in the bargaining unit, the announcement said.
