Syracuse football hosts Notre Dame on Oct. 29

SYRACUSE — The Syracuse University football team will host Notre Dame on Oct. 29 inside the Carrier Dome.

This is the first time that the Fighting Irish have visited the Dome since the 2003 season.

The Notre Dame-Syracuse game is one of seven home conests next season for the Orange that will also feature games against non-conference opponents Purdue and Wagner in addition to four ACC home games.

The Orange and Irish last played in 2020 at Yankee Stadium, where Notre Dame won, 45-21 and went on to make the College Football Playoff that year. The last time the two teams met in the Carrier Dome, SU won, 38-12.

This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools, in a series that dates back to 1914. The Fighting Irish own the series lead at 7-3.

The Orange head into 2022 with a talented roster, led by the ACC’s leading offensive vote getter in All-ACC voting – running back Sean Tucker. The Orange also can return a starter at 18-of22 positions, including first team All-ACC linebacker Mikel Jones to anchor the defense.
