BY SEAN I. MILLS Staff writer

A possible threat against Strough Middle School in Rome on social media Monday night was investigated and ruled non-credible, according to city school district officials.

“The situation was thoroughly investigated last night by Rome PD and the school administration with no credibility being found,” state Rome School District Superintendent Peter Blake Tuesday morning.

Rome Police said there was a threat of a shooting at Strough Middle School made over social media. Police officials said they are investigating the origins of the threat and the possible people involved.

“It’s being actively investigated and we are working with the school,” said Rome Police spokesperson Lt. Sharon Rood Tuesday morning.

Superintendent Blake explained there was an “allegation of a threat” Monday night. Blake said there was “no physical evidence” of the threat — such as a screenshot or a video. The school was in session on Tuesday.

No arrests have been made.
