Charlotte Mary (Fazzi) Brister

Charlotte Mary (Fazzi) Brister passed away, peacefully at home, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the age of 80, in McComb, MS. She was surrounded by family.

Charlotte was born in Rome, NY on November 8, 1942, to Morris Fazzi and Yolanda (Destito) Fazzi. She was raised in Rome with older sister, Katherine and younger brother, Morris, Jr. and graduated from Rome Free Academy. She married Air Force Officer Leroy Brister on September 12, 1970, to whom she was devoted for more than 52 years. Together they raised two loving daughters, Angela and Elizabeth.

Charlotte loved spending time with her family and loved her many dogs.

She held strong to her Roman Catholic faith and her Italian heritage. She was also very proud to be the wife of a pilot. Strongwilled, Charlotte always spoke her mind and as an avid reader and always on top of the latest breaking news, she made sure she had the facts.

She was a die-hard Yankees fan and truly loved baseball. She liked playing Scrabble and cards with family and had a fun competitive streak. She also taught and excelled in ballroom dancing. Always wanting to do her part, Charlotte volunteered in various ways, from being a poll worker to working with the Red Cross. She enjoyed travel and made a hobby of collecting magnets from all over the world. And she really loved a fresh, hot cup of coffee.

Charlotte is remembered by her husband, Leroy Brister, of McComb, MS; daughter, Angela Van Erp (Peter Van Erp), of Niskayuna, NY; daughter, Elizabeth Brister (Donald Boman, Jr.), of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Morris Fazzi, Jr. (Tracy), of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, David Rabideau (Katie), Kimberly Rabideau, Peter Van Erp III and Christopher Van Erp; and great-granddaughter, Emma Leigh Rabideau.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Yolanda; sister, Katherine LaCourse; and brother-in-law, Joseph LaCourse.

With deep gratitude, the family wants to acknowledge and affirm the Nurses and Aides of Compassus for their compassionate and professional care.

Arrangements are being made for a virtual service. Email virtualmemorial@outlook.com for more information.
